About Concept Surfaces

A concept surface is defined by at least one guide curve, its extremities (body points). And two sections at the guide curve extremities, created from a sketch as profile.

Creating and Modifying Concept Surfaces

A concept surface consists of a Section Set, a Link Set, and a Face Set.

Section Set
When creating a concept surface, two sections are created from a sketch at the start and end point of the guide curve.
Modifications of the sketch are transferred to the associated sections.
You can add sections by duplicating a section. A duplicated section is associated to the sketch of the selected original section.
You also can duplicate sketches and assign sections to them.
Link Set
Link Sets contain Link Outputs with link curves connecting the sections. You can modify the link curve tangents and thus modify the concept surface shape.
Face Set
Face Sets contain the Face Outputs with the surfaces defined by the sections and link curves. You can modify the concept surface shape by translating the surfaces.

The input geometry to be selected depends on the selected scenario:

Scenario - Input First Point Second Point Guide Curve Start Section End Section
Guide curve + sketch/section Start point of the curve End point of the curve Input guide curve Created from input sketch/section Created from input sketch/section
Two positions/body points Created/used from first input Created/used from second input Connection between the points Default section Default section
Sketch/section Sketch/section origin First point copied and extruded 100mm normal to the section plane Connection between the points Created from input sketch/section Created from input sketch/section
Position on plane/surface Created from input position First point copied and extruded 100mm normal to the tangent plane of the surface at the input Connection between the points From a sketch to be created Sketch from the start section
Note: For the scenarios Guide curve and sketch/section and Sketch/section , you can first select the input entities and then start the Beam Acquisition command from the context toolbar. The system analyses internally the selected entities and creates a concept surface according to the selection.
