Creating an Impact Analysis

Assignees and the engineering change owner have the ability to create an impact analysis for an engineering change.

Required access roles: All


Before you begin: View the list of impact analyses. See Impact Analysis Page.
  1. Click Create New from the page Actions menu or toolbar. The Create New Impact Analysis page opens.
  2. Enter details in the following fields:

    Field NameDescription
    NameType a name for the impact analysis or check the AutoName check box.
    DescriptionType a description for the impact analysis.
    SeverityFrom the list, select the level of severity for the analysis. Typical values are Low, Medium, and High.
    Quality ImpactHow the quality of the product will be affected by the engineering change.
    Lifecycle Cost IssuesAny issues about lifecycle costs.
    Prioritization BenefitA number indicating the priority of the perceived benefit.
    Relative CostThe relative cost to be incurred, rated on a scale of 9 (highest) to 1.
    Relative PenaltyThe relative penalty, rated on a scale of 9 (highest) to 1.
    Relative RiskThe relative risk involved, rated on a scale of 9 (highest) to 1.
    Impact Analysis EffortThe number of days to determine what the impact will be on products and schedules.
    Estimate Schedule ImpactThe estimated number of days to be added to the schedule due to the engineering change.
    Implementation EffortThe number of days to resolve the engineering change (development + analysis).
    Validation EffortThe number of days to validate the engineering change.

  3. Click Done.
