Creating Issues

All users can create issues for items they have access to.

Required access roles:

  • Baseline: Contributor
  • App-specific: Issue Manager, Customer, Employee, Analyst

If Semiconductor IP Classify and Reuse is also used, any person or access role who has read access to library levels and classified items can raise issues on a document or specification connected to a classified part.

  1. Click > Issues > Create Issue.

    Or

    Click Create Issue from any Issues list page.

    Or

    1. On the Navigate DesignSync page, select a DesignSync object.
    2. From the Actions menu, select Create Issue.

      If the DesignSync object you selected has an associated object, the Create New Issue page fills in the object name in the Reported Against field.

      If the DesignSync object does not have an associated object, the system either automatically creates the object or shows the Connect to DesignSync Object page. If this page opens, see Creating Documents for details. Either way, a new business object is created and the name of this object is entered in the Reported Against field.

      You might see a subset of the following fields depending on the apps used.

  2. Enter details about the issue:

    Field Name Description
    Type The type of Issue to create.

    If another type is defined for creating issues you can change the type. Click to choose a subtype. For more information, see Selecting a Type.

    Description Type details about the issue.
    Reported Against Click to search for the object you want to create the issue for. For more information, see Predefined Queries. The Advanced Search option of 3DSpace opens to let you easily enter criteria to find the specific object you want to add.

    If your system is configured to access an external requirements management system, click one of these buttons:

    Native Search for the 3DEXPERIENCE object you want to create the issue for. Predefined Queries
    External Select the external tool from the list of registered apps.

    Shows the search dialog box from the selected external app so that you can select a requirement. The app shows a requirement proxy for the requirement in the external system.

    Escalation Required If the issue requires upper management support for resolution, click Yes.
    Estimated Start Click and select the date on which issue resolution will begin.
    Estimated Finish Click and select the date on which issue resolution will end.
    Priority Select the priority for the issue. Values are Pre-assigned, Medium, Low, High, or Urgent.
    Co-owners Click to search for and select one or more people who will be responsible for the issue.

    The co-owner has full access to the Issue regardless of the collaborative space and organization that owns the Issue.

    The owner of the issue cannot be assigned as a co-owner. If you select a classification, the owner of this issue is defined by the classification and that person cannot be assigned as a co-owner.

    Problem Type Select the type of problem from the list.
    Resolution Recommendation Type details if you have a recommendation for how to resolve the issue.
    Steps to Reproduce Type a procedure for reproducing the problem causing the issue.
    Category/Classification Click to select a category and classification for the issue.

    To expand a category:

    1. Click the "+" sign for an issue category.
    2. Click the button next to the classification you want to select.
    3. Click Done.

    The classification and its category are both selected.

    Your company defines the categories and classifications to support your business processes.

    Reporting Organization Click to search for and select the company that is reporting the issue.
    Policy Shows Issues. In most cases, you cannot select a different policy.

    Your Business Administrator can configure this field to let you choose from other supported policies for Issues.

    Title Type a descriptive title for the issue.

  3. Click Done.

The issue is created in the Draft state and auto-named. At this point, any user can read the issue. To list all issues, see Issues Summary/Issues Category.
