Capturing Usage

When IP Classification or the Semiconductor IP Classify and Reuse is used, the Enter Usage Information page lets you describe how you will use a file that you want to download. Whenever a file in your download requires usage information, the page is shown when you click the download or check out icon before the file is delivered to the desktop.

When enabled by a Business Administrator, usage information is gathered once per document per user. Not all files require usage information. The Enter Usage Information page does not appear when you download a file:

  • That does not require usage information (any document other than a reference document, or a specification not connected to a classified part).
  • You have already downloaded and entered usage information for that file (if working through hierarchy).

If any file in a multiple-deliverable download requires usage information, the Enter Usage Information page appears before you can download.

Required access roles: If you have access to the document, you have access to the usage information.
