Defining the Projected Area as a Formula

You can define the projected area of a surface or a volume as a formula, so that this parameter is updated automatically.

About the Projected Area
  1. From the top bar, select Me > Preferences, and then click the App Preferences tab.
  2. Go to General > Parameters and Measure.
    1. Select the Knowledge Environment tab. Select the Load extended language libraries and the All packages check boxes.

      For information, the package required to define the projected area as a formula is CATPackageMethodTlg.

    2. Click OK in the message that appears and restart the session.
  3. Open the model in Core & Cavity Separation, and click Formula from the Tools section of the action bar.
    1. In the Formulas dialog box, select Area and Single Value from the lists, and click New Parameter of type.
      The parameter Area.1 is added to the Parameter list, and under Edit name or value of the current parameter.
    2. Under Edit name or value of the current parameter, rename Area.1 into ProjectedArea.1.
    3. With ProjectedArea.1 still selected, click Add Formula.
  4. In the Formula Editor:
    1. Select Tooling under Dictionary.
      Two formulas are proposed to define a projected area.
    2. Double-click the formula corresponding to your need.
      The formula is ready to be completed.
    3. Position the cursor between the parenthesis and double-click the required elements either in the work area or in the tree.
    4. Validate according to the displayed indications.
