Creating a Connect Surface

You can create a Connect Surface to fill gaps remaining after the creation of extended surfaces.

Note: Connect Surface is useful to fill small gaps. Large gaps, especially at corners, or with sharp edges, may not be filled.

Before you begin: See About the Extension Process.
  1. From the Molded Part section of the action bar, click Connect Surface .
  2. Select two Surface Extensions to connect.
    1. Select the first edge or surface extension.
    2. Select the second edge or surface extension.

If you pick a Surface Extension, the planes are displayed for local modification.

A Connect Surface is created between the two selections.
  3. If the tension of the result is not satisfactory, or if the inputs are not Surface Extension, expand the Parameters section.
  4. Select the Part Surface, that is the surface on which extended surfaces have been created leaving a gap.
  5. Specify continuity options (Curvature or Tangent).
    • Part Continuity
    • Inner Connect Surface Continuity
    • Outer Connect Surface Continuity
  6. Specify the tension values for both sides.
    • Outer Connect Surface First Side Tension
    • Outer Connect Surface Second Side Tension
