Synchronizing Mode

You can synchronize the representation of a feature you modified simultaneously with another designer. Modifications made on a feature made by a designer offline can be retrieved to update your version of the shared feature. Therefore you can check if any modifications were made by yourself and update accordingly.

This task shows you how to:


Before you begin: To access to this command, the designer who simultaneously modified the same feature as you must send you the modified feature to let you retrieve it and update it.

Synchronizing from One Source

You can synchronize your representation from one source.

  1. Log yourself in the PLM Chat
  2. Double-click your own user in the PLM Workplace tree
    The PLM Chat window opens.
  3. Click the line indicating that the designer with whom you simultaneously modify a feature wants to share the last modifications of the feature.
    The Collaborative Design Synchronize Current Part command appears on the lower left of contact panel if your representation contains features that are the result of a merge operation.
    Important: The Synchronize Current Part command only appears when evoking your HUD, no other action enables you to make it appear.
  4. Click Synchronize Current Part .
    A new briefcase is posted in the HUD.
  5. You can use the same options as the ones presented in the fan menu when receiving a briefcase.
    Important:
    • The version of the representation used to perform the share is the last one saved in the database. To retrieve unsaved changes, use the peer-to-peer mode exchange mode and apply the merge operation.
    • When synchronizing, the modified properties of the part body such as its name are not propagated. Only the modified features are synchronized.

Synchronizing from More Than One Source

You can synchronize your representation from more than one source.

  1. Click Synchronize Current Part .
    If your active representation contains features that come from several representations, the Synchronize dialog box appears and presents you the list of representations modified by other designers.
  2. Select the modified representations you want to use to update your active feature.
    Tip: By default, all versions are selected.
  3. Click OK with satisfied.
    For each source, a separate message of synchronization is posted in the HUD.
  4. You can use the same options as the ones presented in the fan menu when receiving a briefcase.
    Important:
