Sending Data

This task shows you how to share design changes in a peer-to-peer collaborative environment.


Before you begin:
  • Set up your PLM workplace.
  • Start a mechanical design or shape design app that accepts the Collaborative Design protocol.

  1. Make your design changes.




  2. Start a chat with the person with whom you want to share the design changes made by double-clicking the name of the person or right-click the name and select Collaborate.

    The immersive Heads-Up Display (HUD) appears. Use the Heads-Up Display to share the design changes with this user. The name that appears in the Heads-Up Display title bar is the name of the person with whom you are collaborating.

  3. In the HUD, click Design Share .
    A Share in progress message appears at the bottom of the HUD along with two arrows:
    • Black tick to send data.
    • Black cross to cancel action.
  4. Select the features you want to share in the work area.
    Selected features change color.
    Important: You can only share features that adhere to the Collaborative Design protocol. To know more about the features that can be selected, see About Working in a Product Context.

    A feedback box appears in the upper right corner of your screen identifying the features selected.

  5. Click the green arrow.
    A photo of the shared data is taken and appears on your screen.



    Selected features along with the photo are sent in a briefcase to the person with whom you are collaborating. A feedback box informs you whether or not the send operation was successful.
