Defining Specification Features

To display the options, click Show Preferences and select the options of your choice:

  • Under the specifications node: creates the Component Specifications node in the tree and the new specifications are saved under this node.
  • Enable the selection of specifications: Lets you select a specialized axis system.
  • Automatic user feature instantiation: Generates automatically the geometric result if you increase the number of specification features.
  • Enable the creation of publications: Generates publications for the specification features. When you create a new specification feature, clear the Enable the creation of publication option to deactivate the generation of the publications.

    With this check box selected:

    • The deleted publications are regenerated when the specification features are updated, provided that you selected the Enable the creation of publications check box when creating them. This applies to both individual and patterned specification features.
    • When you instantiate a power copy based on a specification feature with publication, a publication is generated for the power copy result.
Note: If a power copy is used in the Object Type and then instantiated in the Capture Component Specification, it creates new results every time there is a parametric design update for feature result.

  • Disable confirmation to modify publication names: the Rename command allows you to modify the names of specification features, and by default, their publication names are modified as well. If the Disable confirmation to modify publication names option is clear, a dialog box appears to confirm the modification of the publication names.
  • Customize Naming and Numbering: Click the combo box entitled Customize Naming and Numbering to give customized names and/or numbering to specification features to identify them. For more information, see Customizing Specification Feature Naming and Numbering.
