Creating a 3D Point on a 3D Alignment

You can create a 3D point on a 3D Alignment, to modify the alignment geometry afterwards.

  1. From the Wireframe section of the action bar, click Point on alignment .
  2. Select a 3D alignment either in the 3D area or in the tree.

If it is selected in the 3D area, the point is created on the picking position, with its stationing displayed in the dialog box.

The 3D point is created on the 3D alignment and can be edited further.

Notes: When you double-click a point on the alignment in the tree or 3D area, the Alignment Point dialog box opens and the point is highlighted automatically in the 3D area. You can choose the 3D Alignment on which the 3D alignment point is positioned, its stationing, projection, and type.

The picked position of the 3D alignment point on the 3D alignment is considered as the initial position when its stationing is defined.

  3. Optional: Edit its stationing position on the 3D alignment directly in the Stationing editor.

A Stationing feature appears in the tree under the Component Specifications node. After editing the stationing definition in its editor, its new position is automatically highlighted.

  4. Optional: Edit its projection on the 3D alignment.
If you change the projection of the 3D alignment point from None to On Alignment 3D, the selected point projects itself on the 3D alignment.
  5. Optional: Select a Type: Start of Bridge, Start of Tunnel, Start of Dam or Start of Ground (for natural terrain level) or Not Defined, for 3D alignment points.
A Type feature appears in the tree under the Component Specifications node.
