Creating a Z Scaling

To help you design vertical alignments, you can exaggerate the elevation view by differentiating scaling between Z and X directions in the Vertical Alignment sketcher.

Note: This capability is only available in the vertical sketcher and for visualization purposes only, it does not impact the model itself.

Before you begin: You must have opened a terrain and created an horizontal alignment.

About Z Scaling
  1. To create a vertical alignment, click Vertical Alignment from the Civil Engineering section of the action bar.
    1. Select the horizontal alignment you want to work with in the Vertical Alignment Creation dialog box.
    2. Select a terrain and layers (optional).
    3. Select other 3D objects (for example buildings).
    4. Click OK.

  2. In the Visualization section of the Alignment Assistant, select Distorted scale and enter a ratio in the V/H ratio box.

The status and ratio value persist during a 3DEXPERIENCE session, for each sketch type:

    • Vertical alignment,
    • Left and right angular laws for superelevation (road design) and cant (railway design).
    • Left and right width length laws for road length and rail shoulder.
