Creating Objects with Building and Civil Types

You can create objects with predefined building and civil types also referred to as AEC types and construction types.


Before you begin: Start a Building and Civil Assemblies session, and specify preferences for creating content by selecting Set attributes at creation for all types in the context menu of the New Content panel.

About Types
Assigning an Object Type to an Object
  1. From the Compass, click Building and Civil Assemblies.
  2. In the top bar, select Add > Content in the list (or press CTRL+N).
    The New Content panel appears.
    Note: Only the building and civil types of interest are available.
  3. Click to expand the category section of your choice.
  4. Select an element type in the category list.

    For example, select Site under Building & Civil Spatial Structure.

    Important: Site is the typical element type assigned to a root product in a civil engineering project.

  5. Enter the required attributes in the Site dialog box.
    Important: By default, the dialog box showing the attributes is not displayed. Make sure you specify preferences for creating content . For more information, see 3DEXPERIENCE Platform: Setting Preferences for Creating Content.

The element type is created accordingly.
