Perpetual Resource Lifecycle

The Perpetual Resource policy controls the lifecycle of a variant or option group that does not have to be under change control or revision control to be modified.

This page discusses:

Private

A variant or option group is created in the Private state. Both object types use the Perpetual Resource lifecycle policy.

A Product Manager or Leader can create a variant or option group. In the Private state, it is only visible to the Owner who created it. The Owner can remove or add variant values to a variant and options to a variability group.

Available

In the Available state, if the the perpetual resource is in a public collaborative space, it is visible to all users with access to the collaborative space. It is only visible to the Owner in a private collaborative space.

The Owner can remove or add variant values to a variant and options to an option group.

Obsolete

In the Obsolete state, the perpetual resource is visible to all users with access to the collaborative space.

The Obsolete state is considered "frozen", so the variant or option group that is a perpetual resource cannot be modified or deleted. The Owner or anyone else with the Leader role in the collaboration space can demote the perpetual resource to the Available state.
