Product Configuration Comparison Report

Most selections in product configurations vary only by a few choices, especially when one configuration is derived from another. The Compare Configurations report shows the differences between product configurations.

The report compares all selected product configurations. If no product configurations are selected, the comparison is done across all product configurations that are available in the context.

Required access role: Reader

To view the Compare Configurations report:

  1. View the Product Configurations page for the model version or logical feature. See Product Configurations Page for a Model Version or Logical Feature or Logical Features Page, respectively.
  2. From the page toolbar, click Compare Configurations .

Column Name Description
Display Name The display name of the item.
Name The name of the item.
Rev The revision of the item.
Type The type of the item. Variants, option groups, variant values, and options are displayed under the current model version or logical feature.
Seq No The sequence number of the item. Variants and option groups are sorted based on their sequence number. If the structure has multiple levels, the expansion goes only to the level of a variant or option group.
Product Configurations Includes a column for each available product configuration used in the comparison. If no product configurations were selected, all product configurations for the current item are displayed. The column cell value shows the Display Name for variant values or options selected in the respective product configuration.

If the variant has a Key In Type (for example, Integer), the variant value is displayed with a label of "(K)" to indicate that it has been keyed in.

If there is a conflict between variants and variant values or option groups and options in the product configuration, a appears next to the object name. Click Edit in the column heading to resolve the conflict in the Edit Product Configuration dialog box. The conflicting variants or option groups are highlighted in red.

Required access roles to edit the product configuration: Leader, Product Architect, Product Manager, or Product Engineers with both Variant Analysis and Reuse and Configured BOM licenses

Note: If you export this report, is replaced with "(Conflict)". If you print this report, appears in the column with a conflict.
