Editing Evolution Effectivity of an Instance

You can edit the evolution effectivity on a configured instance of an object using the available evolution criteria.

Before you begin:
  • There must be models attached to the root object.
  • There must be a configuration context. For more information, see Editing the Configuration Context.
  • Your Business Administrator must have decoupled variant and evolution effectivity.
  1. Select a child object of the root object that has a configuration context.
  2. From the action bar, click Edit Evolution Effectivity of Instance.
If there is only one model attached to the root object, the Select Model Version dialog box for that model opens. If there are multiple models attached to the root object, the model list for the instance opens so that you can select a model.
  3. If there are multiple models attached to the root object, from the models list, select the tile for the model that you want to use to define the evolution effectivity for the instance.
The dialog box for that model opens.
  4. In the model's dialog box, do the following:
    1. To set the instance's effectivity using model versions or manufacturing plans, click in that criteria field.
Based on which you clicked, either the Select Model version or the Select Manufacturing Plans dialog box opens.
    2. Use the Infinite Select Mode slider to configure the selection mode:

      • Disabled (slider to the left): Define the evolution effectivity using only the selected revisions. You may select more than one.
      • Enabled (slider to the right): Define the evolution effectivity using all of the revisions from the one selected to infinity. You select only the earliest applicable revision and all others to infinity are automatically selected for you.

    3. Select the single or range of revisions to define effectivity for the object.
    4. To maximize the Expression field, click .
    5. To minimize the Expression field again, click .
    6. To hide the effectivity expression, click .
    7. After you complete the evolution effectivity expression, click Apply.
  5. Click OK to close the Edit Evolution dialog box.

The evolution effectivity is defined for the instance.
