Selecting a Configuration Mode

You can select the configuration mode of your choice while authoring a configured structure.


Before you begin: Open a product structure in Product Structure Design work area. For more information about opening a product, see Product Structure Design User Guide: Working with Products: Opening a Product.
  1. From the standard area of the action bar, click Menu Bar.
    The context menu appears.
  2. To select the authoring context of your choice, select View > Authoring Context.
    The Authoring Context dialog is pinned on the authoring window.
  3. In the Configuration area, you can select one of the following configuration modes:
    Note: Double-click the configuration mode title to minimize the authoring context dialog.
    Configuration Mode Description
    No Configuration In the default mode, you cannot apply effectivity on a new instance or on a modified instance.
    Note: You must be in No Configuration mode to close the authoring context dialog.
    Define Effectivity This mode allows you to assign effectivity for each operation you perform on your product structure.

    Session Effectivity This mode allows you to assign a defined effectivity value for all the operations you perform on the product structure in the current session.

    Click to edit the Session Effectivity.

  4. The Change area displays the list of CAs on which you have performed Work Under.

    Note: Only users assigned the CHG license can access the Change area in the Authoring Context panel.
  5. While in No Configuration mode, select View > Authoring Context from the menu to close the Authoring Context dialog.
