About UI-Activation

UI-activation lets you specify which object you are going to edit.

To set an object as UI-activated, you can either:

  • Open an object in a new context.
  • Double-click (double tap on touch devices) an object displayed in edition context. This edition context also contains specific contextual commands available for the objects contained in the UI-activated object.
Tip: You can also right-click the object, and then select xxx object > Edit.

For example, when you double-click a part or a product in an open assembly, the root product in the assembly is UI-activated by default.

The UI-activated object stays open in the same window and the visualization context is not modified. If a tree is available in the edition context, the UI-activated object is highlighted in blue in the tree.

Important:
  • You cannot UI-activate all objects, only those associated to certain app types. If you double-click an object which cannot be UI-activated, this UI-activates its UI-activable parent (provided that it is not already UI-activated).
  • You cannot UI-activate objects when the Select command is active.
  • You can edit object properties only in the compliant app. To do so, the object (or the closest UI-activable parent) must be UI-activable. Thus, you may need to double-click the object twice to access the edition dialog box.
