Editability Behavior

The following table gives you some examples of how editability affects various operations by default. The behavior can be different for Authoring apps other than Product Structure Design. For more information, see the specific app documentation.

Modify attributes (Edit Properties, Sheet Editor)The attributes of the reference can be modified if the reference is switched to edition.

The attributes of the instance can be modified if the instance is switched to edition.

Graphic properties of a representation open in Read Only can be modified, but the modifications are applicable only to the session and not in the database.

Modify GeometryThe geometry of a representation can be modified if it has been switched to edition.
Insert Part or Representation (in Product Structure Design app)Parts and representations can be inserted regardless of the editability status of the product they are being inserted under.
Cut/Delete Part (in Product Structure Design app)Parts can be cut or deleted from a structure if the instance of the part is switched to edition.
Move a Part (in Product Structure Design app)Parts can be moved if the instance of the part is switched to edition.
Replace Product and Synchronization of a product (in Product Structure Design app)Parts can be replaced or synchronized if the instance of the part is switched to edition.
RevisingAn object can be revised regardless of the editability status.
Change MaturityAn object can be promoted or demoted regardless of the editability status.
MoveAn object can be moved regardless of the editability status.
