Using the Clipboard to Copy/Cut and Paste Objects

With the clipboard, you can hold in session the cut or copied objects for a later paste.

Important: To appear in the clipboard, the object must be active in session.

This task shows you how to:

Add Object to the Clipboard

The cut or copied objects are automatically added to the clipboard, whether the clipboard is active or not.

  1. From the Fixed area of the action bar, click Clipboard .
The clipboard appears in the Search Results panel.
Important: If you have previously copied or cut objects during your session, these objects appear in the clipboard.
Tip: You can press Alt + F2 to open or close the clipboard.
  2. Copy or cut any object.
The object is added to the clipboard.
    Note: For a cut object,
    • A scissor symbol is displayed on the right bottom to indicate the cut status.
    • This object is not removed neither from the tree nor from the 3D area until it is pasted.
    • If you perform another command (Copy, Insert New...) before the paste, the cut status is replaced by a copy status (the scissor symbol disappears). Pasting this object will not delete it.

Paste Object From the Clipboard

The purpose of the clipboard is to keep in storage objects that have been cut or copied, in order to paste them later during your session.

  1. Select an object in the tree or in the 3D area.
  2. In the clipboard, right-click an object to display its context menu.
  3. Select Paste.
The object is pasted in the selected place.
Note: The copied object is still available in the clipboard for another paste.
