Building 3D/2D Thumbnails from a Remote Machine

This task shows you how to build 3D Thumbnails from a remote machine.

Before you begin: You must have the following prerequisites:

  • LIV
  • DSB
  • one of the data source connectors

  1. On the remote machine, launch a command prompt and change directory to $installpath/win_b64/code/bin.
Backbone communication may not work between two remote machines if they use a different backbone port. To get the backbone working correctly, you must ensure that these machines reference the same port. To perform this check, the BBPortChecker tool is available.
  2. Optionally, enter the command to check the backbone port:
    BBPortChecker
  3. Run the Batch Monitor command line:
    CATBatSrvMonitorExe BB -allow_visu

Note: The environment is positioned automatically in the client xml batch parameter file.

Important: The command prompt tab must remain open as long as client processes will be using the remote machine as resource for 3D Thumbnail calculation.
  4. On a client machine, launch the batch monitor (see Launching the Batch Monitor in Building 3D/2D Thumbnails from the Batch Monitor), run a 3D ThumbnailBuilder and choose the Run Remote option, specifying the name of the remote machine.
Note: The remote machine must have the LIV license. The Licensing button enables you to select the license.
  5. Click Run to launch the calculation.
