Using Persistent Searches

To increase efficiency you can store frequently used searches for future use. These persistent searches enable you to quickly and easily find and reuse existing searches.

Important: As of R2016x, persistent searches are now based upon UQL (Universal Query Language). Persistent queries created in previous versions can be migrated using a dedicated tool. See

This task shows you how to:

Creating a Persistent Search

  1. Search for objects.
  2. To save this result as a persistent search for later use, click Favorites.
  3. Enter the Name of the persistent search and click OK.
    The persistent search is saved in the database.

Searching for and Executing Persistent Searches

  1. To search for an existing persistent search, in the Search box, enter search: xxx, where xxx is your search criteria and click Enter.
  2. Double-click a persistent search to execute the search.
    The results appear in a new Search Results.

Running a Persistent Search

  1. Search for a persistent search.
  2. Right-click the appropriate search result and click Run Search.

    The search criteria saved in the persistent search is executed and the results are displayed in the search results.

Modifying a Persistent Search

  1. Search for a persistent search.
  2. In the search results, right-click a persistent search and select Edit.
  3. Modify the search criteria and click OK.

    The results of the modified persistent search are now displayed in a new Search Results.

  4. To save the modified persistent search, select Tools > Store Search.
    A warning appears.
  5. Click Yes to overwrite the criteria of the persistent search or click No to create a persistent search having these criteria.
  6. Add complementary information as needed.
  7. Click Finish.
    The persistent search criteria and attributes are saved.
