Running the Visualization Performance Wizard

You can use a dedicated tool to see at a glance which parameter you must activate or deactivate for an optimized performance.

  1. From the View section of the action bar, click Visualization Performance Wizard .
The options you click in the Visualization Performance Wizard dialog box reflect your current visualization configuration. For example, if edges are not enabled in your scene, then the No edge option is grayed out.

The report result is displayed in the Bench Result area at the bottom of the dialog box:

    • Initial Settings is the FPS (number of frames per second) without any settings improvement. This is the original scene that needs to be benched only once.
    • Current Settings is the FPS with the selected settings applied.
    • Optimal Settings is the FPS with the best settings applied. It gives maximum performance boost.

  2. In the Visualization Performance Wizard dialog box, activate or deactivate options according to your needs.

    Option Description
Quality Manager Gives information on the quality defined in the Visual Quality Manager.
Aggressive pixel culling Sets a pixel culling value of 10.
View Mode Defines the visualization parameter that you need to deactivate.
Ray Tracing Deactivates ray tracing if you have activated it.
Normal Compression Activates visualization compression by downgrading the model accuracy.

This option might have an impact on opening and editing time.

Ground Activates or deactivates the ground.
Observation Enables rendering optimizations on objects.

  3. Click Bench.
The values displayed in the Bench Result area are updated.
  4. Modify the appropriate options for an optimal performance.

    Note:
    • If Edges, Shading, No wires, No axes, and No points are enabled in the scene, clicking Bench then clearing Edges also clears No wires, No axes, and No points.
    • If Shading, No wires, No axes, and No points are enabled in the scene, clicking Bench then applying the settings does not clear No wires, No axes, and No points.
    • If Edges and Shading are disabled but No wires, No axes, and No points are enabled, clicking Bench then applying the settings has no effect on the scene.
    • If you run the wizard on an empty scene or on a very light model, then FPS results may not be reliable.
