Customizing Fonts

You can customize the appearance of fonts but also the fonts used to display texts in the tree or in the 3D.

This task shows you how to:

Customize User Interface Fonts

You can customize the appearance (for example, the font size and color) of the user interface fonts on Windows.

  1. Select Start > All Programs > Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Display, and then select the Appearance tab (if not displayed by default).
  3. Click Advanced.
  4. In the Advanced Appearance dialog box, use the Item list to click an item of the user interface you want to customize. You can also click a user interface item in the area in the center of the dialog box.

    For example, click Message Box to customize message box, dialog box and tooltip text fonts.

  5. Click OK.
  6. In the Display Properties dialog box, select a font, a font size, and a color.
  7. Click OK.
  8. If you have a session open, exit the session and restart to see that the changes take effect.

Customize Fonts for Displaying Text

You can customize the fonts used, for example, to display texts in the tree, constraint texts and, in general, all 2D texts. These types of text are displayed using system fonts.

Before you begin: This does not concern the texts you enter in the drawing documents created using Drafting.
  1. Select Start > Settings > Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Display and select the Appearance tab (if not displayed by default).
  3. Click Advanced.
  4. In the Advanced Appearance dialog box, do one of the following:
    • Select Message Box in the Item list.
    • Click inside the Message Box item (on Message Text) in the area in the center of the dialog box.
  5. Select a font.
  6. Click OK twice.
  7. If you have a session open, exit the session and restart to see that the changes take effect.

The customization is applied.

Customize Fonts for Displaying 3D Texts

You can choose the font texts displayed in the 3D, and define the style and size properties of the selected font.

Before you begin: You need access to the Drafting license to follow this scenario that shows you how to enter text in a drawing and choose a font for the text. The objective is to present the list of fonts supported.
  1. Open a drawing you created using Drafting.
  2. Click Text in the Annotations section, then click a point in the drawing to position the text.
  3. In the Text Editor dialog box, write the text, justify it, specify the text height and define the anchor point.
  4. When finished, click anywhere outside the Text Editor dialog box, but inside the main tab.
    The Text Editor dialog box disappears.
  5. Point to the text, right-click, and then select Properties.
  6. In the Properties dialog box, click the Font tab.
    This tab includes controls for defining the font, font style, and size.
  7. From the Font box, click the font you want to use.

  8. Select the style and size properties you want to apply to the selected font as well as the other attributes (color, and so on).
  9. Click:
    • OK to validate and close the dialog box.
    • Apply then OK to validate without closing the dialog box.
