Saving Content

You can use a short or a long transaction mode to save content. In short mode, the modifications are saved as soon as the command is completed (for example, when clicking OK).

The long mode is when using Share > Save > Save with Options. For more information, see 3DEXPERIENCE Native Apps User's Guide: Native Apps Common Services: Saving.

Required access roles: Contributor, Author, Leader, Owner.

This task shows you how to:

Save Content Without Options

Select Share > Save or use Ctrl + S.

The modifications are saved as soon as the command is launched. A "Save successful" message is displayed.

Note: If you select objects that cannot be saved, an Incident Report dialog box appears. When you close this dialog box, the Save with Options dialog box appears and the objects at the origin of the error are displayed in the list with the icon in the Modification column.

However, if the Automatically exclude objects that cannot be saved option is selected in the Preferences panel, the Save with Options dialog box directly appears and these objects are displayed as excluded in the list, with the icon in the Modification column. When you click OK, these objects are skipped. For more information about the Save with Options dialog box, see 3DEXPERIENCE Native Apps User's Guide: Native Apps Common Services: Saving: Saving Content with Advanced Options.

Saving Content When Closing a Tab

  1. To close a tab, click the silver cross at the upper right of the tab.
A message appears asking you to save your work.
  2. Click Yes to save your content.
Your content is saved automatically without entering the Save with Options dialog box.
    Important:
    • When a tab is closed and all the modifications it contains are present in any other existing tab of the session, the current tab is closed automatically and no message appears to save your modifications.
    • If objects cannot be saved, an Incident Report dialog box appears. If the Automatically exclude objects that cannot be saved option is selected in the Preferences panel, the Save with Options dialog box directly appears and these objects are displayed as excluded in the list, with the icon in the Modification column. When you click OK, these objects are skipped. If this option is cleared, the tab is not saved and closed.

Saving All Tabs

You can save all the modifications that have been made in all the current tabs.

  1. Select Share > Save > Save All.
The session is tested to check if an update is required.

If no update is required, the content opened in the current session is displayed in the Save dialog box, which opens in Session scope.

    Important:
    • The Save with Options dialog box is displayed with the save scope automatically specified to Session (the corresponding list is grayed out). It means that all the objects of the current session are displayed in the Save dialog box and are ready to be saved.
    • When the Save dialog box opens, the B.I. Essentials panel automatically appears.
  2. In the Save with Options dialog box, click OK to confirm the saving

You can use the capabilities provided in the Save with Options dialog box, for example to exclude one or several objects.

A progress bar is then displayed and the objects are saved to the database.
  3. Optional: If an update is required, a dialog box opens to let you click:
    • Yes to run the update. In that case, each editor is successively checked and when an update is required, the concerned editor is defined as current to let you validate the update.
Important: If an error occurs during the editor update, the update is stopped. The editor to be updated remains current, and an error message is displayed to indicate that the command is stopped.
    • No if you do not want any update.
    • Cancel to stop the save process.
