Creating a Part

Users assigned with specific roles can create new parts using this function.

  1. In the top bar, click Actions > Components > Create New Part

    or

    From SEP/MEP Part Properties > Part tab, click Create Part.

  2. Enter details about the part, including the following:

    Field NameDescription

    Name

    Enter the name of the part.

    Policy

    Select the policy type from the drop down option.

    Description

    Enter the description of the part.

    Owner

    By default, the owner is set as the person who is creating the part. To assign a different owner, click or type in the name and select the owner from the available matching options in the box.

    Vault

    If you want to use a vault other than the default, click to specify where the part object will be stored in the database. This field is displayed only if more than one vault is available to the context user.

    Spare Part

    Select if you want to create a spare part from the drop down option.

    Material Category

    Select the material category for the part from the drop down options.

    Weight

    Enter the weight of the part.

    Target Cost

    Type the target cost on a per part basis.

    Unit of Measure

    Select a Unit of Measure from the drop-down list: LB(pound), IN(inch), GA(gallon), FT(feet), EA(each).

    Lead Time

    Select the number of weeks that it will take to manufacture the part.

    Effectivity Date

    Click and select a target date for the part to become effective in the Bill of Material.

    Estimated Cost

    Type the estimated cost on a per part basis.

  3. When you have filled in all necessary fields, click Done to add the new part to the database.
