Using the Material Addition Wizard

Material Addition Wizard finds the ply corners where material addition is required, and generates the required material additions.

  1. Select the Plies group to analyze.
  2. Key in the Minimum length, Tow width, Lateral Staggering.

    The lateral staggering is used for preview and generation of the material addition, not for the analysis.

  3. Optional: Select Turn off to minimize ply crossing.
  4. Optional: Select an analysis direction from the list.
  5. Optional: Click More... and select more criteria.
  6. Under Generation, select one shape to initialize the addition of material:
  7. If a better balance of material addition is required, select Force alternate side.
  8. Click Analyze.

    The wizard

    • Finds out whether a material addition is required or not.
    • Groups and orders vertices.
    • Displays all locations of possible material addition in the 3D area, with some (not all) possible modifications.

  9. For a nonsymmetrical usual shape, click the preview to change the side of the material addition.
  10. For any Default usual shape, right-click the preview and select the required menu item:
    • Ignore vertex
    • Ignore group
    • , , let you change the usual shape used for the material addition.
    • Other side
  11. Click Generate.
