After designing the cardboard package, you can generate an
extraction. The simulation preparation functionality automates the generation of an
abstraction model of the package to be used in the simulation.
From the
Model section of the
action bar,
click
Extraction.
Define the extraction mode:
Option
Description
Remove fold
Removes the fold faces.
Preserve fold
Preserves the fold faces of the cardboard package. Fold cuttings are
represented by the fold face in the cardboard package.
Preserve fold and display parameters
Preserves the fold face of the cardboard package and displays the
specification parameters in the extraction results.
Note:
The Preserve fold or Preserve fold and
display parameters mode preserves faces only for the fold
cutouts that are created with the Keep Cycle mode set
to True.
Select the solid body to extract.
If the 3D shape is folded, select a reference face.
Optional: To hide the body, click Hide/Show body to
extract.
The Extraction Set
node contains all the features generated during the simulation preparation.
The Surface Set
node contains the Mid Surface Extract feature, that is a
shell surface.
The Output Set
node for the Remove fold mode contains the final
cardboard topology:
Output panel faces
corresponding to the number of panels in the solid package.
Two output folds per fold face.
An axis system per fold and
panel face. The x axis is oriented along the fold axis.
The Output Set node for the Preserve
fold and Preserve fold and display
parameters modes contains the final cardboard topology:
An output panel for every panel face.
An output fold for every fold face.
An axis system for every panel face and fold face.
The Output Group
Set node contains the same features as in the Output
Set. It gives a logical grouping in the tree and lets you create simulation features. It is only available with the
Remove fold mode.
Warning:
If the extraction set has already been
generated in the current view, no set is generated. However, if you switch to
another view, a new extraction set is generated.
