Uploading Documents

You can upload documents to your collaborative space to share it with other members using 3DSpace. In the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, a document is a file of a supported file type.

Before you begin: You must be added to the collaborative space as a Leader or Author.
  1. To quickly upload files, drag a file from your computer and drop it on top of the Drop your files here message in the content pane.

This table lists the type of content supported by 3DSpace.

    Table 1. Supported File Extensions
    Type of file File extensions
Image jpg, jpeg, png, gif, tif, tiff, bmp and svg.
Video flv, avi, mov, wmv, mpg, mpeg, mp4, m4v, rm, webm and mkv.
Audio mp3, wav, aac, m4a, wma, ra and ogg.
3D Model 3dxml, stp, step, stpz, ifc, smg, ifczip, omf, rvt, rfa, and stl

  2. To use a menu to upload files, use one of the following methods:
    • From the context menu of the collaborative space, select Add Content.
    • Double-click the collaborative space and from the breadcrumb select My Collaborative Spaces > Your collaborative space name > Add Content
    • From the list of collaborative spaces, select the collaborative space and in the toolbar click Add Content.

Select the files and click Open to confirm your selection.

Your content is uploaded and available to the members of the collaborative space. When added to the collaborative space, the app uses the file name as the Title, and includes additional text for the Name to ensure a unique name. Editing the title of document does not edit its name. The title shows in the list of content. You can view the Propertites for the document to view its name.

Documents can be further managed using Collaboration and Approvals. For more information, see Collaboration and Approvals User's Guide: Documents.
