Opening Documents from Platform Workspace or Project Folder

You can open documents from the platform workspace or from the project folder in CATIA. You can also refresh the folder list and get the updated folder structure.


Before you begin:
  • Create a workspace or a project in the browser client. Only the Creator or a user with the required permissions can access the workspace or the project.
  • Save the required documents in the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

  1. In the CATIA toolbar, select 3DEXPERIENCE Platform > Open.

    The Open dialog box appears.

  2. Select the Folder tab.
    A list of the 3DEXPERIENCE platform workspaces and projects appears.

    Note: While opening documents:
    • By default, the previously accessed tab is activated when you open the Open dialog box. Even if CATIA is restarted, the last accessed tab is activated.
    • In the Workspace tab, you can expand the structure up to the desired folder level and then switch to other tab. If you go back to the Workspace tab, the expanded structure is retained. However, this is possible only if you switch between tabs inside the Open dialog box.

  3. Click Refresh Folder List to get the folder structure that is updated in the web UI. This button is displayed below each folder structure in the Folder tab.

    The Refresh operation does not work if the folder structure is not expanded completely. The personal workspace is not accessible after the Refresh operation, if the name of the personal and the shared workspace is the same.

  4. To view documents in the folder:
    • Click [+] to expand the workspace tree, and click a workspace folder.
    • Click [+] to expand the project tree, and click a project folder.

    Note: You cannot select multiple workspaces and projects in a structure.

  5. Select the required documents from the folder.
  6. Click OK to open the selected documents.

The selected documents are opened in CATIA.

When you right-click on any workspace or on a folder in the Workspace tab, you get an option to create a new folder inside that workspace or folder. The new folder is created after you enter a name and description.
