About Switching Index and Authoring Modes

You can switch between Index mode and Authoring mode. By default, the Index mode is active.

When you open an object, the page toolbar shows one of these icons:

Index mode is turned on. Click to switch to Authoring mode. The message is displayed with the details related to the last refresh and the last indexing.


Authoring mode is turned on. Index mode is reactivated within the specified minutes after the last authoring process. The message is displayed with the details related to the last update and the last indexing.

Where T: Specifies 3 minutes. By default, 3 minutes are selected and cannot be edited.

The following table provides the details of configuration whether the Index or Authoring mode is active:

Index Mode In the index mode, the mode is switched to the authoring mode with the latest available data.

The Index view is also updated with the latest data.

In the authoring mode, the mode is switched to the index mode.

In the index mode, the mode is switched to the authoring mode with the latest available data.

There is no change occurred in the authoring mode.

In the index mode, the mode is remained as the index mode.

In the authoring mode, the mode is switched to the index mode after the T minutes.

Notes:
  • The Content view of the libraries node, and the Content view of any library node are always opened in the index mode.
  • By default when the mode is switched to index mode after the T minutes, the content view is not refreshed.
  • By default, the 6WTags are supported in the index mode hence the 6WTags are not present in the authoring mode.
  • When the authoring mode is switched to index mode, the 6WTags are updated once the details are refreshed in the index mode.
