Copying Chapters

You can copy a chapter and paste it under another chapter or a catalog. You can also copy and paste it under another chapter of the same catalog. When you copy a chapter, all the keywords defined for the chapter are also copied.

Before you begin: Open a catalog in the Design IP Classification.
  1. Select a chapter.
  2. To copy the selected chapter, you can do one of the following:
    • Select Copy (Ctrl+C) from the action bar.
    • Right-click the selected chapter and select Copy.
    The selected chapter is stored in the clipboard.
    Note: If you try to copy objects other than chapters in a catalog, an error message appears indicating that only chapters can be copied.
  3. Select the chapter under which you want to paste the copied chapter.
  4. To paste the copied chapter, you can do one of the following:
    • Select Paste (Ctrl+V) from the action bar.
    • Right-click the selected chapter and select Paste.
    A copy of the chapter is placed in the selected chapter.
    Note: A copied chapter inherits keywords from the parent chapter except for those keywords that are common to the copied chapter. If you perform additions or modifications to the parent chapter's keywords, these keywords are also inherited by the copied chapter.
