Adding Keywords

You can add keywords to chapters. The keywords added to a chapter are propagated to the items under the chapter and to all the sub-chapters. You can search and filter the chapters and the items using the keyword values.

Before you begin: Open a catalog in the Design IP Classification app.
  1. Select a chapter.
  2. To add keywords to the selected chapter, you can do one of the following:
    • Select Manage Keywords from the Edit section of the action bar.
    • Right-click the selected chapter and select Chapter > Manage Keywords.
    The Keyword Edition toolbar appears.
  3. To create keywords for the selected chapter, click Add Keyword in the toolbar.
    The expanded view of the Add Keyword toolbar appears.
  4. To define the attributes of the keywords, you can type the following:
    1. In the Name box, type the name of the keyword.

      The following special characters are not allowed in keyword names: * ? | / \ \\ = ''.

    2. In the Type list, select the keyword type.
    3. In the Value box, type the keyword value.

      By default, the value is not set.

    Note: All items in a chapter inherits the keywords and its values (default values). A appears before the default keyword value.
  5. Click Add Keyword or press Enter.
    The keyword is added under the selected chapter.
  6. Repeat the task from Step 4 to Step 7, to add more keywords.
    Note: The keywords and the keyword values are saved when you exit the Manage Keywords command.
