In the Share
menu, select Export... > 3D XML or File....
The Export dialog box appears.

In the Mode list, select File exchanges.
By default, the File exchanges option is selected.
For more information about the Mode options, see 3D Modeling Apps > 3D Modeling Apps Common Services > Other Services > Share > Importing and Exporting > Exporting Data to 3D XML > Exporting Data to 3D XML Files.
- In the Path box, enter path of the directory where you want to export the 3D XML file.
Or Click [...] button, to browse for the directory. By default, the Path box is automatically generated with the required path. For more information about the Path, see 3D Modeling Apps > 3D Modeling Apps Common Services > Other Services > Share > Importing and Exporting > Exporting Data to 3D XML > Exporting Data to 3D XML Files.
- In the Name box, enter or modify name of the 3D XML file.
By default, name of the selected 3D XML file is automatically generated. - Select the Apply the whole structure option to content (where applicable) check box to determine the amount of catalog or chapter structure that you want to export.
By default, the Apply the whole structure option to content (where applicable) check box is selected. - To edit properties of the 3D XML file, click
on the (to be edited) text in any row.
You can set and customize these attributes in PLMImportExportManifest.CATNls file. This Id card can be viewed by the receiver before importing the file. By default, the values of From, Title and Copyright attributes are generated from the customized CATNls file as filled in by the user. If the CATNls file is corrupted or the value of an attribute is empty, then the value of that attribute is substituted with People and Organization values. - Optional: Click Preview to see a list of the objects to be exported.
The Export Preview dialog box appears. Note:
You can now view the
following attributes such as Lock Status, Locked
By, Maturity Status and Exchange
Status in the Preview dialog
box.
- Optional: Click Close to return to the Export dialog box.
- Click OK to finish the export.
The Export Progression dialog box displaying the percentage of completion appears.
A successful message appears in the top right corner of the screen indicating that the command was successful. The selected catalog and its components are exported.
Export ChaptersWhen you export the chapter of your choice, the selected
chapter and its components along with the catalog are exported.
These exported components are available in the Export Preview dialog box.

Notes:
Check the following:- Exporting persistent queries is not supported.
- An error message appears if you export the item available in the selected chapter.
Import

In the Add
menu, select Import... > 3D XML....
The Import 3D XML dialog box appears.

Select the 3D XML file.
A warning message appears if the list is empty.
- In the Import Options area select Import As Reference or Import As New.
By default, Import As New is selected.
For more information about the Import Options, see 3D Modeling Apps > 3D Modeling Apps Common Services > Other Services > Share > Importing and Exporting > Exporting Data to 3D XML > Exporting Data to 3D XML Files. - Optional: Click 3D XML Player to preview the geometry of the saved object, if the 3D XML file has saved geometry.
The 3D XML Player is required to view 3D contents. -
Optional:
Click Preview to view the manifest details and the list of attributes saved (such as Name, Date of Creation and Modification, Maturity and Exchange Status) when the 3D XML file was exported.
The Import Preview dialog box appears.
By default, the Date and its value are displayed in the upper half of the Import Preview dialog box. For more information about customization of manifest attributes see, Social and Collaborative | Global Design Management | Exchanges Management | Export | Export to 3D XML.
- Optional: Click Close to return to the Import 3D XML dialog box.
- Click OK to finish the import.
The Import Progression dialog box displaying the percentage of completion appears. A successful message appears in the top right corner of the screen indicating that the command was successful. The imported data are explored in the Design IP Classification app. (if the import is successful).
