Managing Capacities

You can create and manage your own capacities to enhance Natural Language vocabulary.

You can create function, event, or service capacities.

This task shows you how to:

Create and Edit Function Capacities

You can create function capacities for drivers or sensors in the Behavior Editor.

From the Storytelling section of the action bar, click Behavior Editor .
Click the Drivers or Sensors tab.
In the Capacity type list, select Function.

Fill in the options:

Option	Description
Capacity Icon (optional)	Lets you select the capacity icon. The icon is visible in the Scenario panel.
Function name	Defines the function capacity name in the JavaScript code. Note: The function name must exactly match the JavaScript function name you want to use in the capacity.
Alias	Defines the name used in the Scenario panel to display the capacity.
Parameter	Defines the type of parameter.
Name	Defines the parameter name.
Restrictive type	Defines the actor that you can use as a parameter. Notes: This option is only available with object parameters. If nothing is selected, any actor can be used as a parameter.

Create and Edit Event Capacities

You can create event capacities for sensors in the Behavior Editor.

From the Storytelling section of the action bar, click Behavior Editor .
Click the Sensors tab.
In the Capacity type list, select Event.

Fill in the options:

Option	Description
Capacity Icon (optional)	Lets you select the capacity icon. The icon is visible in the Scenario panel.
Event ID	Defines the ID of the event emitted in the JavaScript code. Note: The event name must exactly match the JavaScript event type you want to use in the capacity.
Alias	Defines the name used in the Scenario panel to display the capacity.
Parameter	Defines the type of parameter.
Name	Defines the parameter name.
Restrictive type	Defines the actor that you can use as a parameter. Notes: This option is only available with object parameters. If nothing is selected, any actor can be used as a parameter.

JavaScript Example: Create an Event Capacity

The following example shows you how to create an event capacity with JavaScript.

To define a simple event, use the following piece of code:

var MyEvent = function () {
EP.Event.call(this);
};

MyEvent.prototype = Object.create(EP.Event.prototype);
MyEvent.prototype.constructor = MyEvent;
MyEvent.prototype.type = 'MyEvent'; // must match the event ID declared in the form

if (EP.EventServices.getEventByType('MyEvent') === undefined){
  EP.EventServices.registerEvent(MyEvent);
}

To send a simple event, use the following piece of code.
```
var event = new MyEvent();
this.dispatchEvent(event);
```

JavaScript Example: Create an Event Capacity and its Parameter

The following example shows you how to create an event capacity and its parameter with JavaScript.

To define an event and its parameter, use the following piece of code:

var MyEvent = function (iObject) {
	
	EP.Event.call(this);
	this.object = iObject;
};

MyEvent.prototype = Object.create(EP.Event.prototype);
MyEvent.prototype.constructor = MyEvent;
MyEvent.prototype.type = 'MyEvent'; // must match the event ID declared in the form

if (EP.EventServices.getEventByType('MyEvent') === undefined){
  EP.EventServices.registerEvent(MyEvent);
}

To send the event capacity and its parameter, use the following piece of code:
```
var event = new MyEvent(anyActor);
this.dispatchEvent(event);
```

In Natural Language, a sensor can test the actor sent through the MyEvent element.

Notes:

When you send an event, make sure the event is registered in EP.EventServices. If not, an error message appears.
If you use an event in Natural Language, make sure you declare the event outside any beScript method.

Create and Edit Service Capacities

You can create service capacities for drivers in the Behavior Editor.

From the Storytelling section of the action bar, click Behavior Editor .
Click the Drivers tab.
In the Capacity type list, select Service.

Fill in the options:

Option	Description
Capacity Icon (optional)	Lets you select the capacity icon. The icon is visible in the Scenario panel.
Service name	Defines the name of the service capacity.
Service alias	Defines the name used in the Scenario panel to display the capacity.
Start function	Defines the name of the start function.
Execute function	Defines the name of the execute function.
End function	Defines the name of the end function.
Parameter	Defines the type of parameter.
Name	Defines the parameter name.
Restrictive type	Defines the actor that you can use as a parameter. Notes: This option is only available with object parameters. If nothing is selected, any actor can be used as a parameter.
