Customizing Operations

You can customize operations for actors, environments, and resources.

This task shows you how to:

Customize Operations for Actors

You can customize tessellation, decimation, or jacketing options.

Customize Pre-Processing Operations

  1. Click Actors, and select Pre-Processing.
  2. To customize tessellation options, expand Tessellate and modify the following options:
    OptionDescription
Tolerance Specifies the maximum chordal deviation in mm for the tessellation.
Angle Specifies the maximum angle between the normals of isolines in degrees for the tessellation.
Length Specifies the maximum length between two isolines in mm for the tessellation.
  3. To customize decimation options, expand Decimate and modify the following options:
    OptionDescription
Chordal type Defines the way the defined parameters are used for reducing triangle count.
Chordal deviation Defines the perpendicular distance between the actual curve and the approximating line segments.
Tolerance of joints between faces Defines, in millimeters, the tolerance under which two faces are merged.
Do not decimate free borders Defines whether or not free borders are decimated.
  4. To customize jacketing options, expand Jacketing and modify the following options:
    OptionDescription
Quality Defines the number of rays and the surface’s precision from which the rays are shot.
Enable transparency Defines whether or not transparency is considered for occlusion.
Occlusion mode Defines which geometry parts act as occluders.
Keep invisible geometry. Defines whether or not concealed surfaces are kept as hidden representations.

    Notes:
    • To apply or deactivate all the operation options, turn on or turn off the options located in the Content column.
    • To apply or deactivate only some operation options, turn on or turn off the options located in the Operations column.

  5. Do one of the following:
    • To continue the publishing process, click Next.
    • To publish your experience, click Publish.

Customize Texture Operations

  1. Click Actors, and select Texture Tuning.
  2. Expand Texture Simplification and modify the following options:
    OptionDescription
    Texture Simplification

Reduces the size of all the textures and keeps the aspect ratio.

The texture simplification occurs if the texture dimensions are larger than the default texture dimensions (1024).

Note: Texture Simplification is only available with web experiences and glTF models.
Maximum Texture Dimension Defines the maximum texture dimensions of the materials applied to the experience.
    Notes:
    • Values are in pixels.
    • By default, the maximum texture dimension is 1024.
  3. Expand Basis Compression and modify the following options:
    OptionDescription
Basis Compression Lets you compress textures to have a smaller file size.
Note: Basis Compression is only available with web experiences.
Quality Defines the quality of the texture compression.

    Three options are available:

    • Low: performs a low-quality compression.
    • Medium (default): performs an average quality compression.
    • High: performs a high-quality compression.

Customize Operations for Environments

You can customize HDR options.

  1. Click Environments.
  2. To customize HDR options, expand HDR optimization and modify the following option:
    OptionDescription
HDR Size Limit Defines the size limit of the environment.

Customize Operations for Resources

You can change the compression quality of an image resource.

  1. Click Resources.
  2. To customize compression quality options, expand Image optimization and modify the following option:
    OptionDescription
Quality Defines the quality of the image resource. Compression is on a scale of 0 to 100.

The higher the scale, the better the quality.

Images are compressed to the JPEG format.
Note: If you want to apply or deactivate all the operation options, move the sliders located in the Content column.
