Rendering Objects

You can render objects with high-quality images in interactive mode.

Before you begin:
  • Select the appropriate render mode in the Rendering area through Me > Preferences > App Preferences > 3D Modeling > Styling > Live Rendering > Interactive

  • In Me > Preferences > App Preferences > 3D Modeling > Styling > Live Rendering > General, use the Default engine on Ctrl + Alt + R list to assign the shortcut to the render mode of your choice.
  1. From the Live Rendering section of the action bar, click the appropriate render command.

    Command Description
Iray (Photoreal or IRT) is an interactive ray tracing render mode.
Important: To use Photoreal instead of IRT, click Use Iray Interactive instead of Photoreal in In Me > Preferences > App Preferences > 3D Modeling > Styling > Live Rendering > General.
    Stellar render mode.

This mode produces high quality and physically realistic images with advanced global illumination effects, and supported multiview display, materials, and ambiences.

Distributed Iray (VCA and Remote Server) render mode using a cluster of computers.

To make the command available, activate Enable distributed rendering and define the cluster host name and port in Me > Preferences> Styling > Live Rendering > Network .

    Distributed Stellar render mode.

This mode lets you produce high-quality images using a cluster of computers.

To make the command available, activate Enable distributed rendering and define the cluster host name and port in Me > Preferences> Styling > Live Rendering > Network .

You also need to install and start the cluster to be able to connect to it from the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform. For more information, see Ray Tracing Cluster Monitoring.

Important: This command is usable only if you have the DIR license.

Ray tracing starts. The ray traced image is refined as long you do not click the render icon again.
Important: Any change in the scene (viewpoint modification, for example) restarts the refinement process.
  2. To exit the command, click the render icon again.
