Assigning a Type to the Meta Input

You can associate a type to a meta input to make sure that the user selects an item matching this type at instantiation.

  1. From the Manage Templates section of the Action bar, click User Feature to display the user feature definition window.
  2. In the Name box, type the name of the user feature, then click the inputs in the tree or in the 3D area.
  3. Click the Meta Inputs tab. Click Add to create a meta input. Change its name in the Role box.

    The role is the external name given to each input and published parameter. The default role of an input is the name of the feature and the default role of a parameter is its default name.

  4. In the Meta Inputs box, select the input that you want to associate with the meta input and click the button.
  5. Click OK when done.
    Important: The types that are displayed in the Select a type window belong to the packages you selected in the Knowledge Environment tab. (Me > Preferences > General > Parameters and Measure ).
  6. Repeat the above operation to associate the necessary inputs with the meta input.
  7. Click the ... button. The Select a type window displays.
  8. Select the type and click OK. The type of the input that you select at instantiation must be identical to this type.
