Structure Design Database Design Import

Database Design Import (DBDI) enables the migration of CATIA V5 data stored in a legacy database into 3DEXPERIENCE.

This topic specifies the import correspondences between V5 data types and 3DEXPERIENCE content types, and the import result. The statuses for import results are fully imported, partially imported, and not imported (-).

This page discusses:

Common Import Behavior

This section describes the behavior of CATIA V5 data stored in legacy databases imported into 3DEXPERIENCE that is common to all connectors.

V5 Data Type 3DEXPERIENCE Content Type Import Result
Structure Design (SR1) Plates

(Created with Support method or Support and Contour method

Structure Design (SDD) Plates Partially imported
  • The category is Physical Plate.
  • Support is retrieved from the imported data.
  • Thickness, offset value, material and grade is same as of V5 SR1 plate.
  • Limits are applied only if the SR1 plate is created with Support and Contour method.
  • Customized attributes are not mapped.
SR1 End Plates SDD Plates Partially imported. Specifications are same as imported SR1 plates, except:
  • No offset value because offset value cannot be applied on SR1 end plates.
  • No limits are applied.
  • Customized attributes are not mapped.
SR1 Plates generated through PPG SDD Plates Partially imported. Only V5 SR1 plates are mapped with V6 SDD plates. The specifications are same as imported SR1 plates.
SR1 Shapes (created with Support method or Point to Point method)SDD BeamsPartially imported.
  • The category is Physical Member.
  • Beam type is Curve.
  • Only standard anchor points are mapped.
  • The curve for beam is support contour of SR1 shape retrieved from the imported data.
  • Section, material and grade is same as of V5 SR1 shape.
SR1 Shapes with different cutbacksSDD BeamsPartially imported.

SDD members are generated corresponding to SR1 shapes without cutbacks.

SR1 shapes generated through PPGSDD BeamsPartially imported.

Only V5 SR1 shapes are mapped with SDD members. The specifications are same as the imported SR1 shape.

Cutouts (applied on SR1 plates and shapes)SDD OpeningFully imported.
  • The opening is Sketch opening.
  • The profile for opening is the contour of cutout retrieved from imported data.
  • The forming mode (After or Before) for the opening is mapped with cutting mode of cutout.
  • The direction (in case of After forming) or surface (in case of Before forming) for cutout is used as direction and support for opening.
Slots3D OpeningsPartially imported.
  • The opening is 3D Object opening.
  • Only user-defined feature based SR1 slots and slots generated through PPG are imported as 3D object opening (extracted contour).
EndcutsSDD EndcutsPartially imported.
  • V5 built-in endcuts are mapped to V6 built-in endcuts with the name same as of V5 endcuts.
  • UDF based endcuts are migrated as 3D Object opening.
  • For 3D Object opening,V5 endcut body(GSD volume or Part Design feature) is used as cutting element.
