Filtering Diagram Components by Name or Inheritance

Filter Diagram lets you filter diagram components by component names or if they are inherited.


Before you begin: Display the diagram to filter.
  1. To filter on component names:
    1. In the Filter string box, start typing the component name you want to filter on.

      Important: If the box is dimmed, deactivate filtering of inheritance by clicking Inherited. You cannot combine filtering by name and filtering by inheritance.

      Filtering is applied dynamically when you type, components not matching your input are made semitransparent.
    2. Optional: To change the level of opacity, drag the handle.
  2. To filter on which components are inherited:
    1. Click Inherited.
      The result is:
      • Filtering is applied, components inherited are made semitransparent.
      • Any previous filtering on component names is deactivated and the Filter string box is dimmed - you cannot combine filtering by component names and component inheritance.
    2. Optional: To change the level of opacity, drag the handle.
  3. To remove the filtering, you can:
    • Close the Diagram Filter dialog box.
    • Click Filter Diagram .

    Note: When you change the active diagram by, for example, giving the command Show Component or opening a new class, the filter text box is cleared and no filtering is applied.
