Reorganizing Connection Lines

You can reorganize your connection lines to improve the display of your 2D model. Reorganizing the connection lines prevents the connections to run over components. It also keeps a minimal distance between parallel connections.

You can organize all connection lines or a selection of them.

Note: You can also improve connection lines while drawing them. See Rerouting Connections While Drawing.

Before you begin: Open a model containing components and connections.

About Connectors and Connections
  1. To select which connection lines to reorganize, do the following:
    • To reorganize all connection lines, make sure that no connection line is selected.
    • To reorganize a selection of connection lines, multiselect these connection lines.
  2. From the Diagram section of the action bar, click Reorganize Connections .
The connection lines according to the previous step are redrawn to, as far as possible:
    • Avoid other components.
    • Keep a minimum distance between parallel connection lines.
    Notes:
    • If it improves the connection line drawing, components having two or more connectors are flipped or rotated. This also applies when the connectors are connected several times.
    • Connections that start and end on the same port are not reorganized.
    • If a connector is superimposed by a component, the connection lines of that connector are not reorganized. A message appears if this is the case.
    • If a component has a port at its center, all connection lines are drawn in one line from the center to the border of the component, and then separated.
