Aligning, Distributing, and Resizing Components

You can organize the 2D display of your models by aligning components.

For this, you can:

  • Align, distribute or resize components
  • Align and distribute connectors

Important: The following scenario describes the commands in a context, to align elements and ports.

In Dymola Behavior Modeling the scenario is identical to align components and connectors in the diagram and icon layers.

  1. Activate the parent of elements to be aligned.
  2. From the diagram or Component Browser, multiselect components.

Tip: The alignment commands are based on the boundaries of your selection, like a box containing all the selected elements.

  3. To align the components along with the upmost component, from the Diagram section of the action bar, select Align Top .

Tip: You can also, from the first flyout of the context toolbar, select Align Top .

The selected components are aligned along with the upper component.

  4. To align in other ways, for example, to the left or horizontally, you have a number of alignment commands available, to select as in the previous step.
  5. To resize the selected components, select Same Width or Same Height .

Tip: You can also, from the third flyout of the context toolbar, select the same commands.

The size of the first element of your selection is applied to the selected components (in our example, the first selected element is the left one).

  6. To create an equivalent space between the selected components, select Distribute Vertically or Distribute Horizontally .

Tip: You can also, from the second flyout of the context toolbar, select the same commands.
