Template Structures

The template structure can be defined with all template objects in the parent/child structure that matches the structure of the intended assembly.

You can also design a template that includes design objects in addition to template objects. A design object cannot be the parent of a template object, but it can be the parent of other design objects.

You can design a template structure that only includes templates, such as an Assembly template connected to 1 or more Component templates. Each template should be connected to parent and child templates in the same structure that an assembly would be defined, and each template must have a file in the correct format for the CAD tool.

In the Start Design process, the user selects the top-level template (the others do not show in the list for selection) and provides a name, and X-CAD Design Management creates the needed objects, including the children of the top-level template, by autonaming the objects.

You can also design a template that includes design objects in addition to template objects. A design object cannot be the parent of a template object, but it can be the parent of other design objects. When you connect a design object to a template, make sure the selected design object contains a file.
