The Start Design process can be executed for an ENOVIA type of Component, Assembly, or Drawing (or any subtypes of these types). Start design is not available for family models. Each collaborative product installs the design types needed for that CAD tool. The collaborative products also install templates specific to that CAD tool for each type that can be used with the Start Design function. See Data Models for X-CAD Design Management for details about the relationships between CAD objects and templates in X-CAD Design Management. For example, the The templates are mapped to types using the When you create a template, use a Template administrative object installed by ENOVIA X-CAD Design Management or a collaborative product. See Data Models for X-CAD Design Management for details on template objects. If you add attributes to the Template Type to support your company's requirements, you must also add that attribute to the corresponding Design Type. Creating a template includes uploading a file created in the CAD tool to X-CAD Design Management. You have to upload the files from the X-CAD Design Management browser window. S ee the appropriate document for instructions on using the tool you choose to use to upload files. If using X-CAD Design Management to upload the file, navigate to the Attachments page for the template object. For more details, see "Starting the CAD Object Design Process" of X-CAD Design Management User's Guide. Note:
Mozilla Firefox version 3.0 and later does not support file uploads for creating templates
used in the Start Design feature.
If you do not upload a file, the Start Design process does not display an error message prior to starting, but creates the design object and then displays an error message. You must check in a valid file to the template before continuing. You can also use X-CAD Design Management to connect templates (for example, an Assembly template with a Component template). For the parent template, navigate to the Related Items category page. Use this page to connect two templates. For more details, see "Working with Related Items of a Template" section of X-CAD Design Management User's Guide. |
