Saving CAD Objects with a Different Name

You can save an object in ENOVIA with a different name. You can expand and duplicate an entire structure of family and instances.

You can save an existing CAD object on any page that lists objects and has an Actions > Save As command.

Save as operation saves the entire structure of selected object depending on the IEF-DefaultVerticalView attribute in LCO/GCO.

Before you begin:
  • Search for the object you want to save with a different name.
  • Ensure that the CAD model and the selected development part have matching revision sequences.

  1. Select the object and from the page toolbar, click Actions > SaveAs.
  2. When the GCO attribute, IEF-AssignCADModelNameFromPart is set to TRUE and if the value of the attribute IEF-EBOMSynch-PartMatchRule is set to MATCH_CADMODEL_REV, then the Target Revision is set to the revision of the selected Part.
  3. Select the objects you want to save.
  4. Click or Assign Bookmark to specify the bookmark for the object.
  5. To specify new names, use one of these methods:

    • To multiple files, enter values in the Regular Expression (for the existing name) and Replace String fields in the SaveAs Naming section at the bottom of the page, then click Apply. The value is replaced in the Regular Expression text box with those in the Replace String text box.
    • To use Auto Naming, select a Model Series or Drawing Series from the lists and click Done to automatically assign the name for the selected object.

The Target Revision for the cloned object will be the initial Revision from the Policy of the design that is cloned.

Your system may be configured to automatically initiate the EBOM Synchronization function. If so and the synchronization fails, the checkin of the new object (created by Save As) is undone.

Note: After Save As, the balloon number attribute is updated only if the entire structure is checked out and checked in again to update the references properly.
