Generating GTIN

You can generate GTIN ( Global Trade Item Number) if GS1 is the issuing agency. GTIN is automatically generated during DI(device identification) creation.

Before you begin:
  • You must be a product manager (PM) and the owner of the DI object.
  • The DI must not be in the approved state.
  • You have to select Yes for the GTIN value while creating a medical product.
  • The Issuing agency must be GS1.

  1. Select the Device Identification tab from the device identification category menu.
  2. Select a device identification object.
  3. Click Generate GTIN from Actions in the page tool bar.

    Note: You can also generate GTIN from the Information tab. You can open a device identification object and from the Information tab, select Generate GTIN from Actions in the page tool bar.

    GTIN is generated as DI number.

Notes:
  • If the medical device product does not have an item reference number, GTIN is automatically generated as the DI number.
  • If the DI number of the product has item reference number, a confirmation message appears. The message states that the DI number contains the item reference of the medical device product, and do you want to generate a new DI number. If you click ok, a new GTIN is generated for the DI number. If you click cancel, the DI number remains the same.
  • If the DI number does not match the item reference of a medical device product, a confirmation message appears. The message states that the DI number does not match the item reference, and do you want to generate it from the item reference number. If you click ok, a DI number containing item reference number is generated. If you click cancel, a new GTIN is generated for the DI number.
