Configuring the User and Collaborative Spaces

The User is the credentials required to connect to 3DLean. The User is granted rights on the app's collaborative spaces.

On premises only: Collaborative spaces are only available with the On Premises version.

All members of a team share the same User, that is, they use the same credentials to connect to the app. Individual team members are then linked to the User through the collaborative spaces:

  • My 3DLean - NAME_OF_USER - ID: A protected collaborative space to store the content created in the app.

  1. Create a single User for the team, for example Maintenance Team.

  2. Create the My 3DLean - NAME_OF_USER - ID protected collaborative space.

    Note: Protected means that this collaborative space is specific to a User.

  3. In My 3DLean - NAME_OF_USER - ID, give NAME_OF_USER Leader rights.

    Tip: Alternatively, you can do one of the following:
    • Use the VPLMPosImport script below to automatically create My 3DLean - NAME_OF_USER - ID and grant roles.

    • Grant creation rights to the User. When the User first starts 3DLean, My 3DLean - NAME_OF_USER - ID is automatically created and roles granted. For more information see, Installation and Setup: 3DSpace User's Guide: Collaborative Spaces Control Center: Defining Who Can Create Collaborative Spaces.
      Warning: This action grants admin rights to the Team user for all collaborative spaces on your platform.
    • Create a specific collaborative space and set the User as owner. He will see it as an collaborative space in which to create his team board.

Team members can now connect to 3DLean using the same User. Their individual profile pictures appear:

  • In the Tools > Team menu
  • In the Team Leanget.
