Defining Your Working Environment

In this first step, you will define your working environment.


Before you begin:
  • Make sure that you select the Persist Resource Position check box. This option is available in Me > Preferences > App Preferences > Simulation > Digital Manufacturing Apps Common Services Manufacturing Simulation Apps Common Services > 3DSimulation > Environment.
  • Load a part to manufacture, a build tray and start the app.
  1. From the Setup section of the action bar, click Build Setup .
  2. Create a machine by clicking Resources > Machine > Create a New Generic Machine .
  3. Select the Build Envelope Type, either Rectangular or Circular and enter new parameters.

    For a Rectangular build envelope, enter parameters such as:

    • X Dimension: 200mm
    • Y Dimension: 200mm
    • Z Dimension: 200mm

    For a Cylindrical build envelope, enter parameters such as:

    • Radius: 150mm
    • Z Dimension: 300mm

  4. Click OK when done.
  5. Still in the Build Setup dialog box, click Search Accessory and search for a build tray using the search of the Top Bar.
    The build tray is automatically mounted on the machine mount point.
  6. Click OK to save your selection.
  7. Now, from the Setup section of the action bar, click Build Layout .
  8. In the Build Layout dialog box, click Parts.
  9. In the work area, select the part to manufacture.
  10. In the Parts tab of the dialog box, define the number of parts to manufacture, such as 3.
  11. Collapse the Parts tab of the dialog box.

Your working environment is now ready.
