Using the 3D View in Assembly Path Optimization

You can select products associated with items directly through the 3D View when working with commands such as New Interference Probe and Measure Between, as well as choreography activities such as color and visibility.

The 3D View panel facilitates and accelerates the selection of products implemented by an item.

Before you begin: Open your simulation content that includes items in Assembly Evaluation.
  1. Select an item in the tree.
  2. Click 3D View .
The 3D View panel appears, showing the products assigned to the item.
  3. From the Verification section of the action bar, click New Interference .
The Interference Specifications dialog box appears.
  4. In the Context tab, click Groups against Groups.
  5. Click Add New Group.
The Group Definition dialog box appears.
  6. Do a trap inside the 3D View to select all the products displayed for the item, and click OK in the Group Definition dialog box.
    Group 1 is created.
  7. To lock your selection, select Lock Product BuildUp.
  8. Select another item in the tree.
  9. Click 3D View .
Another 3D View panel appears showing the products assigned to the item.
  10. Click Add New Group, do a trap selection in the new 3D View panel to populate the group, and click OK in the Group Definition dialog box.
    Group 2 is created.
  11. Click OK in the Interference Specifications dialog box to create the interference probe.

Notes:
  • If the Lock Product BuildUp button in the 3D View panel is active, the panel is not updated when the selection changes (that is, when you select a different object in tree, the panel still shows the objects that were selected before the lock was activated). This is useful when you want to temporarily validate some other objects while keeping the currently selected objects in 3D View panel.
  • An Unloading operation is considered as an operation that removes implemented items. In the 3D View panel, the products related to items implemented by an Unloading operation are colored purple, according to the settings in the Product Buildup Options panel.
