Displaying Minimum Distance between Moving and Context Objects

You can display the minimum distance between selected moving and context objects during Track authoring, editing, and simulation. This lets you identify clearance, contact, and penetration conditions along the Track.

The minimum distance is also displayed:

  • When selecting and playing one or several systems, workplans, operations, assembly sequences, production system excitations, or manufacturing scenarios. A minimum distance label is displayed for each simulated track that is under the object. When the Track simulation ends, the label disappears.
  • In the Path Planning command.

Before you begin: The session data should include context objects and a Track with moving objects in a simulation context. Context objects are all 3D representations in the surrounding environment that are not included among the Track's moving objects.
  1. From the App Options panel, select Display Minimum Distance Label.
  2. Select the Track of the context and moving objects whose link you want to display.
  3. Click Play on the Compass to simulate the Track.
The Play panel appears allowing you to control the simulation.
  4. Click Step Forward to move step by step through the simulation.
The minimum distance is displayed at each step of the simulation. The text color is as shown below:
Clash Status Distance Value Color of the Text
Clearance Clearance distance is shown as a positive value Green
Contact Contact distance is shown as zero Yellow
Penetration Penetrated distance is shown as a positive value Red
  5. Click Play again to exit simulation.
