Updating Manufactured Parts

You can update Manufactured Parts from manufacturing assembly and structure logics.

Update a Manufactured Part From Assembly Logic

You can update a Manufactured Part that is no longer consistent with the referenced part. When the Manufactured Part Update Status, From Assembly Logic option is set, the item is updated according to the design it implements and the assembly logic. The update consists in adding, modifying or removing items and updating the resulting product.

  1. Open a Manufacturing Assembly structure that includes a Manufactured Part.
  2. From the Tools section of the action bar, click B.I. Essentials , then from the list, select Update Status.
    The item tile is green.
  3. Delete a Remove Material step.
    The tile is blue.
  4. From the Authoring section of the action bar, click Update a Manufactured Part .
    An Update Log dialog box appears showing the detail of the update that was done (Action type, Concerned Item, Concerned Fastener/Product, and Parent Item).

    A Remove Material step is created and the tile is green again.

Update a Manufactured Part from a Manufacturing Assembly Structure

You can update a Manufactured Part that is no longer consistent with the manufacturing assembly structure. When the Manufactured Part Update Status, From Manufacturing Assembly Structure option is set, the item is updated according to the Manufactured Part structure. The update consists in updating the resulting product according to the structure.

  1. Open a Manufacturing Assembly structure that includes a Manufactured Part.
  2. From the Tools section of the action bar, click B.I. Essentials , then from the list, select Update Status.
    The tiles are green.
  3. Modify a Remove Material step (for example, change the diameter of the feature in the Properties dialog box).
    The tiles are blue.
  4. From the Authoring section of the action bar, click Update a Manufactured Part .
    The Manufactured Part Update dialog box appears. It lists the modifications (for example, the number of modified holes) and proposes updating the modified holes.
  5. Click Yes.
    The holes are updated according to the Manufacturing Assembly structure and the tiles are green again.
